Love Carried Forward
A young man came to us with a treasured piece of family history — his grandmother’s pear-shaped emerald ring, a ring she had worn every day for 50 years. Time had taken its toll: the emerald was scratched, the prongs had thinned, and the intricate details on the shank had faded. He wasn’t sure it could be restored, but he held onto hope. He trusted us at Grants Jewelry to help bring it back to life. With great care, we got to work. We began by gently unsetting the emerald and sending it to our expert lapidary.
After a delicate polish, its brilliant green radiance returned. We re-tipped the prongs, securely holding the stone once again, and revived the worn details on the band. Slowly, the ring began to shine like it had on the day his grandmother first received it.
While we worked, he was preparing something of his own — a proposal at Bow Bridge, his favorite spot in Central Park. He even practiced with his dog, Coco, kneeling on the bridge for a trial run. When the ring was ready, it was nothing short of stunning the perfect blend of legacy and renewal. On a bright summer day, with the city around them and love in the air, he got down on one knee. She said “yes.” In that moment, a cherished heirloom found new meaning, and a beautiful love story came full circle.
